Closing Checklist

  1. Laundry Room:
    1. Turn off water to your hot water tank.
    2. Turn off power on your hot water tank.
  2. Bathrooms:
    1. Toilets:
      1. Bleach in the toilet.
      2. Cover bowl with Saran Wrap.
      3. Heavy can or bucket over the closed toilet seat, to prevent critters coming in from the sewers.
    2. Close bathtub and sink drains.
  3. Kitchen:
    1. Fridge:
      1. Empty out your fridge and freezer.
      2. Unplug fridge.
      3. Place something in the way to keep the doors open.
    2. Dishwasher:
      1. Put 1/4 cup of cooking oil and 3/4 cups of water in bottom of the dishwasher.
      2. Put a dishcloth over the door to keep it unsealed.
    3. Garburator:
      1. Pour 1/2 cup of cooking oil in it, and run it for 30 seconds.
    4. Open cupboards and drawers.
  4. Bring in everything from your patio. Anything left outside will be removed by the association, and either thrown out or donated to the bazaar sale.
  5. Open closet doors and dresser drawers.
  6. Environmental controls:
    1. Thermostat set to 80-85.
    2. Humidistat set to 50-60.
  7. Close the shutters.
  8. Turn off water at the front of the building.
  9. Turn off circuit breakers.
